TriSports.com Donates Bikes to Jr. El Tour Program

TUCSON, AZ (November  10, 2016) — TriSports.com is a proud supporter of Jr. El Tour, a Tucson-based program that provides 35 underprivileged children ages 10-12 the opportunity to start cycling. The youth participate in a 12-week cycling program that trains new cyclists to ride in the 40-mile El Tour de Tucson cycling event. The program is geared to help children struggling with issues like obesity, low self-esteem, or financial hardship and instill a sense of teamwork and develop strong work ethic in participating youth.

All the equipment is provided by Jr. El Tour. The program offers free training three times per week, including sessions with cycling trainers, sports nutrition, and road safety education. After the children complete the 40-mile El Tour de Tucson ride, happening November 19th, participants may enroll in a follow-up program for group rides.

The program is funded through generous donations from sponsors, like TriSports.com. This year, TriSports delivered 37 bikes to the program with the help of Fuji. Upon successful completion of the 12-week training program, these young riders get to keep their bicycle. Last year, 28 kids completed the program and earned their bicycles. 35 youth have registered for the program this year and are slotted to ride in El Tour and earn their bikes.

“This program does so much for all these kids, and it could never be possible without the generous donation of TriSports.com. We thank them for their many years of support,” said Program Director Scott Blanchard.

TriSports.com CEO, Seton Claggett adds, “The Jr. El Tour program is making a difference in these children’s lives, by providing a means to boost self-esteem and physical fitness in a positive manner. TriSports is thrilled to take part in this program, giving back to the community and sharing our passion for cycling with the youth. We’re fortunate to have generous vendors, like Fuji, Abus, Knog and Profile Design, to help provide this opportunity to promote cycling and healthy living to our local youth.”
